DURAN® round bottom flask 500 ml, ground joint NS 45/40 – Round Bottom Flask

Introduction to DURAN® 500 mL round bottom flask with NS 45/40 ground joint

The DURAN® 500 ml round bottom flask with NS 45/40 ground joint (product code: 241704707) is standard labware manufactured by Duran (Germany). It is widely used for refluxing, distillation, and chemical reactions in laboratories. Thanks to its borosilicate glass 3.3 material, the flask offers high temperature resistance, thermal shock resistance, and effective chemical resistance.

Outstanding features

• Made of borosilicate glass 3.3 with high heat resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength.
• Round bottom design ensures uniform heat distribution across the entire bottom surface during heating.
• Standard ground joint NS 45/40 provides a tight connection and convenient assembly/disassembly with other glassware.
• Capacity of 500 ml is suitable for small- to medium-scale synthesis and analytical procedures.

Applications

• Assembled into chemical reaction and organic synthesis systems requiring uniform heating.
• Used in distillation setups, solvent reflux systems, and extraction.
• Used in research, education, and quality testing at research institutes, universities, and pharmaceutical plants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a round bottom flask stand upright directly on a flat surface?
No. Due to its round bottom design for optimized heat transfer, the flask must be placed on a rubber support ring, stand, or dedicated clamp.

What equipment is the flask's NS 45/40 ground joint compatible with?
The flask connects tightly and accurately with glassware accessories of the same standard ground joint size NS 45/40, such as condensers, adapters, or dropping funnels.
