Hydrometer
Introduction to Hydrometers
A hydrometer is a glass measuring instrument used to determine the density or specific gravity of liquids in laboratories and manufacturing. This instrument is widely applied in various practical testing fields such as soil mechanical analysis, petroleum product testing, Brix sweetness measurement, sugar concentration, or hydrogen peroxide testing.
When choosing a hydrometer, users should determine the exact scale and unit needed, such as g/ml, g/l, kg/m³, degrees Baumé (°Bé), or % Brix. In addition, pay attention to the calibration temperature (15°C, 20°C, or 68/68°F), scale division (0.0005 g/ml or 0.001 g/ml), integrated thermometer options (0+40°C), and technical standards such as ISO 649, ASTM, or NF T60101. Hoa Viet currently distributes genuine hydrometers from Alla (France) to meet diverse analytical requirements.
How to accurately read hydrometer scale markings?
For Alla hydrometer lines with reference lines, users need to observe at eye level and read the value at the bottom of the liquid meniscus.
Which product lines are included in ASTM standard soil hydrometers?
Hoa Viet provides two specialized Alla soil hydrometer lines including models ASTM 151H62 (range 0.995 - 1.038, division 0.001) and ASTM 152H62 (range -5 +60 g/l, division 1 g/l) at a standard temperature of 68/68°F, traceable to NIST standards.
Do Alla hydrometers come with a calibration certificate?
Some ISO 649 petroleum hydrometer lines always come with an MRA traceability certificate and a certificate of conformity, while other standard lines do not come with calibration certificates. Depending on verification requirements, customers can contact Hoa Viet to request calibration certificates according to NIST, EU, or EO standards.
