Tips & tip boxes
Introduction to Tips & tip boxes
Tips and tip boxes are consumables attached to pipettes used for aspirating, dispensing, and measuring liquid volumes in the laboratory. Tip boxes help protect and hold the tips securely, allowing operators to quickly mount them onto single-channel or multi-channel pipettes while minimizing contamination risks.
When purchasing, users should base their selection on the working volume range such as 0.1-10ul, 0.5-20ul, 2-200ul, 100-1000ul, or 2000-10000ul, along with technical requirements such as filter tips, graduated, low retention, or pre-sterilized. The products are available in various packaging options including racks of 25, 50, 96 pcs or bulk packs of 500, 1000 pcs. Hoa Viet distributes pipette tips and tip boxes from Aptaca (Italy), Hirschmann (Germany), Jet Biofil (China), and Vitlab (Germany).
When should filter tips be used?
Filter tips feature a barrier membrane that prevents liquid vapors and aerosols from entering the micropipette shaft. This tip type is commonly used in molecular biology, PCR applications, or when handling hazardous solutions to prevent cross-contamination.
Which brands of tips and tip boxes does Hoa Viet provide?
Hoa Viet distributes tips and tip boxes from Aptaca (Italy), Hirschmann (Germany), Jet Biofil (China), and Vitlab (Germany). Please contact Hoa Viet directly for technical advice compatible with your current equipment.
Can laboratory tips be autoclaved?
Polypropylene tips such as those from Vitlab can be autoclaved at 121 °C (2 bar) according to DIN EN 285. Additionally, laboratories can choose pre-sterilized tips packaged in 96-well racks for immediate use.
Should I choose bagged tips or racked tips?
Bagged tips (500 or 1000 pcs/bag) are suitable for high-volume use and typically need to be loaded into racks prior to operation. Racked tips (such as 96 pcs/rack) offer greater convenience, enabling fast direct pipette mounting and reducing hand contact to prevent tip contamination.
